Farmhouse Pedestal Sink

Good Morning Sweet Friends.  This week I want to share little short and easy projects.  The one’s that are on your list but you are so busy wanting to do the big ones that make the most impact the little ones seem too insignificant or just boring… Is that you?? or is it just me??

I think it’s funny how my list always grows.  I see something and think that would be so much better if this one little thing was a little more polished, different, or lets be honest in this house of wood- PAINTED!!

“Never get tired of doing the little things in life, for one day you will look back and realize they were the big things.”

I think sometimes “the business of being busy” trying to create a home can make us miss out on the little things.  I have been trying very hard to find a balance. Who am I kidding? Balance with being a wife, 4 kids, 2 dogs, 1 miniature horse, football games, school activities, therapies, leading bible studies, and loving all of it doesn’t leave much room for balance.  However, I am working Very hard- to truly fall in love with every little thing I create.  Not taking for granted the blessing in each thing.  When we stop creating, stop being busy, and take in those still moments… looking around at all we have already, and have done already… there is a peace, contentment… and JOY.  I have been filling my time with living, and life, and people.  And with that… I have made time to enjoy doing the little things.  So, this week I am going to share a few of those little things. And then next week, I will share what it looks like in the big rooms. The projects are done- so it’s just sharing with you and cleaning, to share the big… laugh with me.. we all love the cleaning part right??!!  Maybe I will share the before shots on Instagram and you can see real life there!!

Today- my little farmhouse pedestal sink in the guest bath…

Plumbing.  Now, I have been told no one sees it.  But yes you do- you just don’t see like I do.  I love pedestal sinks.  I love mine. But I hate seeing the plumbing.

So, in my wonderful new sewing self- I enlisted the help of iron on adhesive for the hem, Velcro tape to hang, and hot glue gun to put on said Velcro.

First be sure to measure the pedestal from one wall side all around the front to the other wall side to know how much fabric you will need. Then the height, making sure to allow for hem.

Iron up that fabric- hard to do once it’s hung and you are already ironing the webbing on.  I only ironed on the heat bond to the bottom, since the top would be tucked up under.

Now learn from my experience, the Velcro is Awesome!! I got mine at Walmart and it rocks!! But 2 things I admit openly.  I attached it first to the wrong side… so it lost it’s stickiness when I had to pull off and reattach.  Which meant it fell off after one day.  So hot glue it.  I think that would be better truly even if you didn’t make mistake number 1 like I did.

velcro-tape

Attach the other side of the Velcro directly to your pedestal- hot glue not needed for this.  It is strong and sticks better to the porcelain than fabric.  Go around the back of the legs with the Velcro tape if you want your legs to show. I like the legs so I did.

And the new look to the farmhouse pedestal sink…

This project took maybe an hour.  Was simple, easy, and very economical.
