My son was 7 when we bought this dresser.  And over the last 11 years he’s used this dresser to it’s max.  It was a great dresser but it’s pulls were breaking and a glide or two needed repaired.  I decided to give him a taller dresser with more room and give this one a makeover!! In American Paint Company Freedom Road and harlequin stencil.

I loved the details on this dresser.  The sides had fun lines and I wanted to play them up.  Plus I had a stencil I had gotten from Cutting Edge and I was dying to use it!! This is painted out with American Paint Company Freedom Road.  It’s a great deep charcoal grey. {I have used it before here.} I used American Paint Company Born on the 4th for the harlequin pattern and then finished it out with The Furniture Connoisseur Antique Walnut Wax.  It is a beautiful makeover.  And sold very fast!! I hope it enjoys it’s new home!!

I told you… beat up and used for sure!! It was a good 11 years and 4 moves.

For the pattern on the sides, I taped to the sides and with an artist brush I lightly traced the insides of the pattern and then hand painted each of the diamonds individually.  Time consuming yes, but it was an much nicer end result.

With it all painted and waxed… the two lower glides were repaired by my awesome hubby and it was time to decide on hardware.  I loved the cups, but I didn’t have enough.  So I opted for a pack of 10 from Home Depot.  It updated the piece perfectly and kept with the masculine feel on a budget- $19.95.

Covered the back with burlap for the booth- thought it was a cute touch…
