Before we get to walking the French Quarter in New Orleans, let me just say, do not bring your brand new pair of boots as your only walking shoe!! Oh 3 days was too much for those boots!!
I love taking in inspiration of colors and old architecture everywhere we go. And New Orleans is such an awesome place to do just that!! The antiques in the French Quarter are so much fun to discover every time we go!! I love seeing the period of the pieces and the worth… It’s amazing to me!! We were able to take a few pictures with my phone in a couple of the shops with no complaining… although I was followed and I happily smiled and spoke of the beauty in the pieces but was gasping inside at some of the pricing!!
We will start at Royal Antiques- and yes it’s on Royal in the French Quarter.
Inside I found some of the prettiest pieces. The condition they were in was just amazing. So exquisite. Let’s take a look. I had fun with you on Facebook when I share one and had you guess the era and price… Were you shocked?? Yes!!

Or how about this one… 18th Century George III Mahogany Secretary Circa 1780
This piece I wouldn’t even paint… it was in perfect condition… they don’t build pieces like this anymore!!

The next one we went into was Kiel’s and it was just beautiful but they didn’t appreciate the pictures… I mean it had a buffet so big and ornate it was amazing but it was also $125K- yikes!! I managed to snap this… it was just amazing!! I opened it and everything and just wanted it!! But alas… the price tag got me!!

I could take one of everything in the next shop- {Antiques Provence} no pricing or era available but the nice webmaster that was in the shop said most pieces were $12K-$40K and were from the 17 and 1800’s… Believe me when I say that I am not sure about all that but it was gorgeous and they were divine!!!
And the pottery too!!

We stayed at the Renaissance On Common.. they have the best staff!!
Can’t go to New Orleans without a trip to Café Du Monde and a cup of chicory & beignets!!

Love my little man… We walked the Riverwalk but shops were closed.
And even stopped into old book store along N Peters
He was absolutely entranced with the voodoo thing… and wanted to see what the Zoltar would tell him…
And no trip would be a trip without loving on some old clocks!! As you remember from my Austin post… I love old clocks!!

I live 40 miles south of New Orleans and for a number of years owned a business that did restoration on pieces like the ones you show in your photos. It was fun but tedious due to the high end value. It took me awhile to progress to the point of slapping paint on an old piece of furniture…lol. I still wouldn’t do that to any of the examples you shared.
One of my favorite things to do is play in New Orleans….especially Magazine Street.
Oh Kae, how very awesome… I bet it was amazing. I graduated in Sulphur, LA and we used to always go over to New Orleans to play… I love going back and appreciating the culture and other things it has to offer now that I am older. This was a whirlwind of a trip but I need to find the places ahead of time to explore the next time we go.
I love New Orleans. The architecture is just amazing. And the fact that some of the buildings are older than Napoleon just fascinates me. I take picture after picture in hopes of catching the glory of it all. Do you let your son wear that Sooner jersey in Texas?
