Happy World Down Syndrome Day 2013!!

Mia-I-am

Today we Celebrate this wonderful Life we have been blessed with living.  We stand with so many more families that have loved ones that have a label- “downs kids” ” down syndrome”…. I want to take a moment to help tell you it’s so much more than a diagnosis.  This little girl is more like your little girl than you will ever know.  Being blessed with 3 older children before we adopted Mia, I can honestly say that you take milestones and health for granted.  Everything she does she works so hard to achieve.  To practices over and over to get every little milestone checked off!! And we celebrate every little milestone!! Grateful her health is amazing.  However, many little ones with down syndrome are born with heart problems, hearing problems, sight problems, and other health issues that are treatable– and could just as easily be an issue to child that is not born with down syndrome.  I have shared with you before that reading all the older books, I was prepared for the worst- because that’s all that is out there!! But it isn’t!! There are so many mama’s blogging out there and the International Down Syndrome Coalition has a wonderful website and it has a list of resources for you to learn more!! {check it out here}

I love sharing my little amazing bubble of joy with you!! She will do great BIG things in her lifetime!! There are 5 people in this family that will fight you if you think differently!! and many more hearts she has won.. So don’t bet against her!!

Today is about Awareness-

Learning and Seeing more than

what you think you know about Down Syndrome.

Seeing the smiles and achievements.

Seeing the many lives being lived to the fullest!!

Unapologetically Amazing Lives!!

There are so many other angels out there I want to share with you.

Here are a couple of videos… one is from last year’s World Down Syndrome day… when the IDSC asked parents “if they could go back”

and this year’s Who I am…

I hope you will have a blessed day!!

Your daughter is so beautiful. What a darling little girl!
Our friends have a son with Down Syndrome, he’s 22 and smart as a whip. Talks your ear off, but he is a wonder. Everyone loves him.

Thank you Debbie for sharing with me!! I can’t wait until she grows up {well I can, I am loving each day}… but her funny personality I can only imagine will be such a hoot as she gets older!! Have a great day!!

I found your website today and just finished reading your journey with Mia. All of this because I was looking for a button to get email updates! What a heartwarming story and what a charmer she is. I do hope that you plan to put all of this in book form for others regardless of whether they have a Down Syndrome child or not. Your story goes beyond the scope of Downs and takes us on a journey of faith. You all are so blessed. Thank you for sharing the story of Mia.

Oh, before I forget…I found you through Hometalk and came to look at the gorgeous dresser you did. I loved it.

What a gorgeous little angel! It is so inspiring to read a story like this. My husband and I are waiting to adopt and are so excited. It is interesting how we are led to the glorious choice of adoption–be it through infertility or just feeling that call from the get go! No matter how we get there, it is life changing and so fantastic. Thank you for sharing this story and making a difference!

    • Lori says:
