Small Wooden Cabinet Madeover into a Music Cabinet

I love when clients find wonderful little pieces and have a vision!!

This one came to me in all it’s wonderful glory- pine and a chewed up little leg.  Still very cute… but it wanted to be more!!

She brought her pillow with her for the room it would be going into.  She wanted layers of painting adding to the aged look of the piece.

We pulled the teal little strand of fringe and used it as the base color of the piece. And then began adding layers of creamy neutrals.

I used the wet distressing method… put on and take off and put more back on over the other layers.

The wipes begin to have paint on them, that you are actually washing some of the paint around- so be careful if that isn’t the look you are going for to use a fresh wipe!!

On this one I used a custom mixed teal- 2 parts of French Blue, 1 part St Anne, and 1/2 part Colette-  it was a beautiful shade!! You can see it peeking through.

Then I used Le Craie’s Magnolia, Baguette, and Pecan and our Dark Wax to age it to perfection.

I found some old music sheets at Alternative Furnishing’s  {where I sell my paint} and they were perfect size for this cabinet front.

I cut a second piece to give it a seamless look length wise.  And put on with Mod Podge and sealed with another layer of it over the top.

Adding music sheets or scrapbook paper can be a fun way to add a little bit of whimsy or that special touch.  You can read more about how to do that here.

She wanted the top to contrast with the bottom… I painted it out with 2 coats of Pecan and then used Minwax’s Espresso stain… And waxed with our dark wax to seal it off.

The owner will be adding on new knobs to make it even better!!

Now, she’s a beautifully aged music inspired cabinet going into a music room!!

Thank you for stopping by… tomorrow I will share the wonderful table I finished….

lots of editing to go do!! Have a great day!!
